| Southwest Karate & Aikido Centers
Student of the month Award! |
Students
must demonstrate an ability of excellence
in their character, training, and leadership.
We do not compete in Karate tournaments
so the winners of this award must distinguish
themselves through the very communities
in which they live. They must also demonstrate
the worthiness to be considered future sensei’s
by Master Sensei Steve Gancherov personally.
Sensei Steve was inspired by the teachings
of Master Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan
Karate and Master Ueshiba, the founder of
Aikido. Both great masters frowned on completion,
yet both believed in good strong character,
strength of mind with harden bodies for
leadership of defense, not a violent venue
to win token medals with fighting skills.
Success is the ability to persevere and
problem solve, then enjoy the hurdles overcome
to challenge the next goals which our minds
dare dream. |

Ryan
Yearley ...
Ryan
has demonstrated an ability to push other martial
arts students to better their character, in the
dojo and at his school St James. He has shown
a true interest in becoming a future sensei by
having his own little dojo at home; which his
dad and mom helped setup at Ryan's request.
This is where he teaches his younger brother,
his first student. I am also very impressed with
Ryan's responsibility with his martial arts weapons.
He is very careful with his Staff, Nun-chuka,
and Sai, always careful of other students. He
keeps them very clean and puts them in a safe
place during class; when he's not using them.
